Re-created Barnwood
While Old Barnwood can be a great addition to any project, there are a few inherent issues with using it. Barnwood siding comes and goes around here. No two barns look exactly alike and the species, quality, and color vary with each load of Old Barnwood we get. Due to this, it can be hard for a customer to purchase the large quantities of matching Barnwood needed to finish a project. Please contact us for the current inventory.
Why Choose Re-created Barnwood?
The best way to emulate Reclaimed Barnwood siding is with old reclaimed wood. Other replicated Barnwood options can be wood that is artificially aged and distressed to simulate old wood, unlike our Re-created Barnwood. We start with reclaimed Rough Sawn Lumber, which is perfect since it already shows the age and character it gained naturally over decades (much like the Barnwood it imitates). Another bonus to our Re-created Barnwood is while Old Barnwood is inconsistent in dimension, color, texture, and species, our Barnwood alternatives have consistent dimensions and patina while resembling the Old Barnwood look.
Our Rough Sawn 1×6″ is reclaimed from warehouses and large manufacturing buildings. Old sawmills would cut 1×6″ intended for use as siding and roofing in large structures; the destination could have been either warehouses or barns. This is why Rough Sawn 1×6″ closely resembles Old Barnwood in many respects. The rafter side tends to be whitewashed or painted, while the roof side has a rough Old Patina texture with some ink staining.
The other option is our Rough Sawn 2x in various widths. This wood is processed and split to yield two pieces that have an Old Patina and rough texture seen in Old Barnwood. This wood can be installed as is, board and batten, or we can add T&G or Shiplap for an additional cost.
